What is micro-needling?
The Eclipse MicroPen is an effective, automated micro-needling device. Micro-needling, otherwise known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), stimulates your body’s own natural collagen production. During this new and innovative procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to produce collagen and elastin within the skin. The skin’s natural repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer lines and creates superficial micro channels which allow topical products and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.
What are the benefits of micro-needling?
Benefits include the reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as a positive effect on uneven skin tone, acne scars, dramatic scars, and stretch marks -- creating a glow to the skin for a fresher, younger looking appearance.
How long does it take and does it feel like?
Depending on the size of the area, a typical treatment can last 15-30 minutes. Micro-needling feels a bit like sandpaper being moved across your skin. There are options to be numbed prior to your procedure, but no anesthesia or medications are required.
What can I expect after a procedure?
Most people can return to their daily activities immediately following your treatment. However, some people may notice pinkness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the emphasis of your treatment. On average, patients are pink from 1-3 days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.
How many treatments will I need?
You can start seeing results in 30 days. Best results can be seen after a series of 4-6 treatments through 5-7 weeks. Some problems like deep wrinkles, stretch marks, and acne scars may require more treatments.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. What is PRP?
Platelet Rich Plasma is a concentration of platelets in the blood that are important to wound healing. When used for skin revitalization, PRP releases growth factors into the skin to expedite the body’s own healing process and bring about new collagen and elastin.
What does the procedure entail?
A small blood sample is taken from your body and the PRP is separated from the other components. The PRP can then be applied topically, needled in with the micro-needle, and/or directly injected just underneath the skin -- similar to the way Botox is injected. The micro-channels created by micro-needling provide direct access to the deeper layers of skin for optimal wound healing. Micro-needling with PRP application is a great option for smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, and scars or even increasing overall rejuvenation of the skin.
